White Space Creative Solutions were contracted by the Professional Publishers Association to produce their annual conference @ B1 Location House in May 2016. White Production Design, pleased to be working with White Space again, were brought in as the sole technical supplier to service the event. With a team of 18 technicians supported by a hefty number of Crewsaders for the load-in and load-out, White PD provided audio, lighting, video, set, staging, rigging and mains distribution for 4 conference venues and a sizeable exhibition.
Although a well-established and successful event, now in its 3rd year, White PD took the opportunity to really drill into the detail of the technical aspects of the event making numerous marginal improvements that all added up to produce a technically flawless production. An area that underwent significant scrutiny was audio.
Key improvements in the audio department were as follows:
- All venues received a number of phases of acoustic treatment (additional scenic panels, carpeting & discreet draping)
- All radio-mics were upgraded to Shure ULX-D with DPA headsets
- Dante and AES audio distribution was used throughout, with QL series desks and Dan Dugan processing for panel sessions
- All speaker systems were upgraded from D&B E & T series to D&B T & Y Series
In addition to the audio improvements, all stage sets underwent a number of tweaks and event lighting designer Dan Young gave a similar treatment to the illumination department.
With White PD taking care of technical, White Space were free to concentrate on the masses of print, content, furniture, speaker management and the logistics of getting 6 trucks of gear in and out of the venue in a 36-hour period.
